Post Office to Host Passport Fair With a “Sweetheart's Touch”

Valentines Day passport event makes applying as easy as 1-2-3

Homestead couple to be honored for 65 years of matrimony

HOMESTEAD — Valentines Day marks the beginning of the unofficial travel season for many, especially those who have said "I do" or planning to. To make obtaining a passport easier for travelers, the Homestead Post Office will hold a Passport Fair in the retail lobby on Valentines Day, February 14, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. "We're holding the fair to allow travelers to apply for passports in one quick, easy and convenient process," says Homestead Postmaster John Hiben adding, "we're also taking the opportunity to pay tribute, in a small way, to a couple from the community who have been married for 65 years; that's pretty special."

When:

Thursday, February 14, 2008
From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
65-year married couple will be presented with a Valentines Day basket at 10 a.m.

Homestead Post Office

Processing of passports normally takes 6 to 8 weeks. In order to have your passport in time for the summer, the ideal time to apply is now. The following items are needed to apply:

Proof of citizenship with any one of the following:

  • Previous U.S. passport
  • Certified birth certificate issued by the city, county, or state
  • Naturalization certificate or certificate of citizenship

Proof of Identity: a previous U.S. passport, naturalization certificate, certificate of citizenship or a current and valid driver's license, government ID, or military ID. For further details, please visit the State Department's Web site at www.travel.state.gov/passport_obtain.

Passport fees:

Adults [age 16 and older] Passport book application fee $75 + the execution fee $25 = $100

Adults [age 16 and older] Passport card application fee $20 + the execution fee $25 = $ 45

Child [age 15 and younger] Passport book application fee $60 + the execution fee $25 = $ 85

Child [age 15 and younger] Passport card application fee $10 + the execution fee $25 = $ 35

The Homestead Post Office will also be taking passport photos for a $15 charge.
