Post Offices open Friday, July 3, many closing early

Retail lobbies operating on Saturday Schedules

PITTSBURGH — All Post Offices will be open Friday, July 3 throughout the Western PA District, encompassing 150-159, 160-168 & 260 ZIP Code areas, however many will shorten retail lobby hours for the unofficial first day of the Fourth of July holiday weekend. Regular mail delivery for July 3 will be unaffected by the lobby service schedule changes.

12 p.m. (noon) will be the last collection for mail deposited in blue collection boxes for July 3 processing. Revised hours will be posted at each Post Office. Commercial customers are asked to check with their Bulk Mail Acceptance Unit for July 3 hours of operation. To obtain the phone number of a specific Post Office, customers may call 1-800-ASK-USPS.

Post Offices will be closed July 4 in observance of the national holiday. Express Mail will be delivered on the 4th and regular mail delivery will resume Monday, July 6.

For added customer convenience, Automated Postal Centers (APCs) are available at select Post Office locations, and many of the APCs are located in 24-hour lobbies. Using a credit or debit card, these self-service kiosks enable customers to conduct business at their convenience. APCs enable customers to:

  • Buy the same self-adhesive stamps provided through ATMs.
  • Weigh, calculate and purchase postage in amounts for items weighing up to 70lbs.
  • Send items via Express, Priority and First Class Mail, as well as by Parcel Post services.
  • Look up ZIP Codes and obtain Postal Service mailing information.
  • Obtain Express Mail, Certified Mail, and Return Receipts
  • Purchase Delivery Confirmation service.
  • Obtain a purchase receipt.
