Winter Weather Conditions Challenge Postal Service
Officials urge customer patience and understanding
Tulsa OK — The day after the state’s first winter storm blanketed much of the state with ice, many businesses, schools and state agencies are closed but, the U. S. Postal Service is still making every effort to achieve mail delivery.
“In some particularly hard hit areas, streets and thoroughfares are challenging for Postal letter carriers who are doing everything possible to achieve mail delivery,” said Tulsa Customer Relations Coordinator, Beth Fisk. “We urge customer patience and understanding as we do our best to contend with very difficult conditions.”
According to Fisk, in many areas, mail delivery will be later than normal. She says less traveled thoroughfares pose the greatest challenge and throw delivery times off schedule.
Customers can assist their letter carriers, by removing ice from turnouts and approaches to curbside mail receptacles. Customers should do their utmost to avoid parked vehicles in front of mail receptacles and where carriers deliver on foot, customers will do their carrier a great service by clearing steps and walkways of ice.
Fisk said Postal employees are professionals who do their utmost to serve their customers safely and efficiently. Normal delivery can be expected as conditions improve.
Clear the snow and ice, for your letter carrier and your community.
