Tulsa Post Office to Offer Pictorial Cancellation to Celebrate
Tulsarama Event June 16, 2007
Tulsa OK — On June 16, 2007, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., the Tulsa Post Office will be offering a very special pictorial cancellation (postmark) as part of the year long celebration of the Oklahoma Centennial.
On June 15, 1957, a new gold and white 1957 Plymouth Belvedere Sport Coupe was buried in a time capsule in downtown Tulsa, Oklahoma. The time capsule was part of Golden Jubilee Week: Tulsa's celebration of Oklahoma's semi-centennial.
It is now 2007 and Oklahoma is turning 100 years old. A year-long celebration of Centennial events includes the unearthing of the 1957 Plymouth Belvedere. Tulsarama is the event planned to celebrate this historic occurrence.
Envelopes, postcards, stationery or other items that a stamp and postmark can be affixed to, can be brought to the Tulsarama event at 3rd St. and Houston Ave. from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. to obtain a pictorial cancellation. Oklahoma Centennial Stamps will be available for purchase as well as special cachet envelopes commemorating the Oklahoma Centennial.

An independent federal agency, the U.S. Postal Service is the only delivery service that visits 146 million homes and businesses, six days a week. It has 37,000 retail locations and relies on the sale of postage, products, and services to cover its operating expenses. The Postal Service has annual revenues of $73 billion and delivers nearly half the world’s mail.
