Fairfield Post Office Hosting Passport Fair
Significant changes in the requirements for passports for United States citizens have occurred in the past few years. The U.S. now requires passports to and from many countries that historically have been exempt from this requirement for U.S. citizens. U.S. citizens traveling by air between the U.S. and Canada, Mexico, Central and South America, the Caribbean, and Bermuda are now required to present a valid U.S. passport.
As a service to local customers traveling abroad, the Fairfield Post Office will host a Passport Fair on Saturday, October 25 at the Post Office, 700 Wessel Drive, 45014, from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m.
To obtain a passport for the first time, applicants must apply in person with two photographs, proof of U.S. citizenship and a valid form of photo identification such as a driver’s license. You’ll also need to apply in person: if your expired U.S. passport is not in your possession; if your previous U.S. passport has expired and was issued more than 15 years ago; if your previous U.S. passport was issued when you were under age 16; or if your currently valid U.S. passport has been lost or stolen.
U.S. citizens now have the option of applying for a new, limited-use, wallet-sized passport card. It is valid only for land and sea travel between the U.S. and Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean region, and Bermuda.
Passport fees:
Adults [age 16 and older] Passport book application fee $75 + the execution fee $25 = $100
Adults [age 16 and older] Passport card application fee $20 + the execution fee $25 = $ 45
Child [age 15 and younger] Passport book application fee $60 + the execution fee $25 = $ 85
Child [age 15 and younger] Passport card application fee $10 + the execution fee $25 = $ 35
Passport photos will also be available for a $15 charge.
NOTE: The Department of State (DoS) has announced that passport processing currently takes less than 4 weeks. Travelers who need them sooner should expedite their requests. Check the DoS web site, address listed below, for specifics regarding timelines.
