Letter Carriers Honored In Ashland
Post Office Inducts Five into Million Mile Club
ASHLAND, OH—They could have driven around the world more than 40 times – each. Instead, five Ashland letter carriers opted to deliver mail for 30-plus years.
As a result, Gary Metzger, Kenneth Myers, Randy Hosler, Thomas Kaufman and Ben Bolen have become the latest members of the National Safety Council’s Million Mile Club — an honor reserved for employees driving one million miles, or 30 years, without an at-fault accident.
The carriers will be recognized for their accomplishments at 8 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 24, at the Ashland Post Office, 530 Claremont Ave.
“Driving more than one million miles without a preventable accident is a huge accomplishment,” said Postmaster Kim Dellinger. “We’re extremely proud of all these guys for showing such dedication to their jobs and their customers.”
Dellinger will be joined by Post Office Operations Manager Cheryl Duchnak in presenting plaques to these distinguished individuals. The pair will also present service pins to 10 carriers with more than one decade of service and another 10 employees with more than 20 years of service.
“I think this is significant: 26 employees with more than 10 years of safe driving. That represents more than half our workforce at this location,” said Duchnak. “We appreciate the excellent service being provided by these employees.”
