Cincinnati Post Offices hosting passport fairs March 28

CINCINNATI, OH —The Cincinnati Main Post Office, 1623 Dalton Ave., and the Sharonville Post Office, 11069 Reading Road, are hosting Passport Fairs on Saturday, March 28, 2009 to provide passport information to U.S. citizens and to accept passport applications. The Postal Service is joining the Department of State in celebrating “Passport Day in the USA,” a national passport acceptance and outreach event.
On June 1, 2009, U.S. citizens must present a passport book, passport card, or other travel documents approved by the U.S. government to enter the United States from Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean and Bermuda at land borders and sea ports of entry.
“We are happy to leverage the convenience of the Postal Service and partner with the Department of State to help our customers apply for passports,” said Cincinnati Postmaster Joe Meimann.
Customers who want to apply for a passport can visit the Main Post Office from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and the Sharonville station from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Information on the cost and how to apply for a passport book and/or passport card can be found at www.usps.com/passport/ or travel.state.gov. U.S. citizens may also obtain passport information by phone, in English and Spanish, by calling the National Passport Information Center toll-free at 1.877.487.2778.
In 2008, the Postal Service accepted 8.5 million passport applications.
