Postal Service hosts Passport Fair at Rochdale Village and Archer Ave. Post Offices
Jamaica, N.Y. — As a convenience to postal customers, the Postal Service will host 2 Passport Fairs and accept passport applications on Saturday, July 19, 2008 at the Rochdale Village Post Office, located at 165-100 Baisley Blvd., Jamaica NY 11434, and then again on Friday, July 25, 2008 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Archer Avenue Post Office, located at 147-21 Archer Ave., Jamaica NY 11435.
As of January 1, 2008, travelers to and from the Caribbean, Bermuda, Panama, Mexico and Canada must have a passport or other secure, accepted document to enter or re-enter the United States by air and sea as well as for land border crossings.
The fee for first time applicants for adults (16 years of age) is $100.00 (photo not included). Two payment transactions are required: $75.00 to the Department of State and $25.00 to the United States Postal Service. The fee for a passport renewal is $75.00. Passports will be mailed to the customer in four to six weeks after application. The Postal Service offers these helpful tips for applying for a passport:
- Fill out the passport application (DS11), before you come to the Post Office (Do Not SIGN the application in advance). You can download the form from: http://travel.state.gov/passport/forms/forms_847.html
- Bring proof of US citizenship original birth certificate (no copy) a valid driver’s license or current photo identification.
- Postal officials can take the photographs.($15.00 Fee)
- Have all your documentation with you.
- For minors under 16 years of age, each child must appear in person and both parents or legal guardians must be present with evidence of identity.
