Theresa Postmaster A Keeper
No Change of Address for Long Time Officer in Charge
Valerie Davidson has been promoted to the permanent position of postmaster of the Theresa Post Office in Jefferson County.
She will be installed to that post in a public ceremony at the Post Office, located at 112 Commercial Street in Theresa, at 1 pm on Friday, May 23.
According to Mary Charney, Manager of Post Office Operations for the Albany District of the Postal Service, candidates for postmaster positions are selected competitively through a series of interviews. Education, work experience, and capabilities pertinent to the assignment are evaluated prior to acceptance.
“Today’s Postal Service requires a vast array of skilled persons to work with our customers, to maintain our retail and delivery operations, and to manage our complex network of employee programs,” explained Ms. Charney. “One of the strengths of the Postal Service is our commitment to our employees in bringing them up through the ranks. I am delighted that Valerie’s talents and interests will now deliver to the public in an expanded capacity. That’s good news for us all.”
Ms. Davidson, a 19 year postal employee, has experience in both post office operations and mail processing. She served at Post Offices in Plessis and Lorraine, also in Jefferson County.
Postmaster Davidson follows in a long tradition of postal service in the community. The first Theresa postmaster — Ebenezer Lull — was documented as being appointed in 1823.# # #
