Pick Up Your Pencil…

Become a Postal Employee

Syracuse — Yes, it is the test season for students and for potential postal employees. In June, registrants for the Postal Exam will pick their pencils up to begin a new career with the Postal Service.

"Many of our applicants, and employees, will tell you they haven't really taken a test since high school," explained Syracuse's postal Officer in Charge Gail Weeks.

"That's why our diversity committee is stepping out again to make the process more familiar to those who will take the exam. We need good employees. Being rusty at taking a test should not be an obstacle."

An independent federal agency, the U.S. Postal Service is the only delivery service that visits every address in the nation — 146 million homes and businesses. It has 37,000 retail locations and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to pay for operating expenses, not tax dollars. The Postal Service has annual revenues of $75 billion and delivers nearly half the world’s mail.
