Mailboxes to be sealed for Independence Day
Other Changes Customers Need to Know

NEW YORK, N.Y. — In the interest of security and safety, postal officials will seal blue mail collection boxes at select Manhattan locations for the annual Macy’s fireworks display on July 4, 2009. The mailboxes will be sealed on Friday, July 3rd and re-opened on the morning of Monday, July 6th.

The sealed Mailbox locations are:

In addition, customers should note that the last mail pick-up on July 3, 2009, from mail collection boxes in ZIP code areas (100 thru 104) will be 12 NOON. Access to PO Boxes is also being curtailed to 1:00 p.m., in most Manhattan and Bronx postal lobbies. Customers are encouraged to visit usps.com for specific information regarding their local post office’s adjusted service hours for the upcoming Independence day holiday.
