Background:
Staten Island Postal Officials will honor Bob Hope’s legacy of more than five decades entertaining America’s men and women in uniform by holding a 2nd Day stamp unveiling ceremony. The purpose of the event is two fold, 1st to thank Bob Hope for the memories and 2nd to encourage the community to send care packages Priority Mail to troops stationed around the globe.
To support the effort the Postal Service is offering a $2 discount on Priority Mail Large Flat Rate Boxes addressed to U.S. military overseas and free Military Care Kits. The mailing kits are designed specifically for military families sending packages overseas and can be ordered for free by phone by calling 800-610-8734 and asking for the Care Kit. Each kit includes two Priority Mail boxes, six Priority Mail Flat Rate Boxes, eight Priority Mail labels, one roll of Priority Mail tape and eight customs forms with envelopes.
