Long Island District Announce New Retail Service Hours

Islandia, NY — The Postal Service like all other businesses has been impacted by the economy and as a result there has been a significant drop in mail volume. Accordingly, Post Office retail service hours have been adjusted at some branches to reflect customer usage.

The Postal Service also offers other convenient methods for acquiring stamps. Stamps are available by phone by calling 1-800-STAMP-24. VISA, Discover or Mastercard can be used to order stamps that will be promptly delivered by your letter carrier. Stamps can also be ordered online at usps.com.

Stamps by Mail order forms are available at all local post office lobbies or can be obtained from your letter carrier. Select the amount of stamps needed and simply mail the pre-paid order form along with a check for the appropriate amount.

Postal customers have access to a complete array of postal services at www.usps.com. Customers can create shipping labels and pay for postage; find a ZIP Code; calculate postage; locate a post office; schedule carrier pickup; track and confirm mail delivery; hold mail; change their address; find addressing information —all from their own computers. In fact, almost anything you can do at the Post Office, you can do online at usps.com. Post Office and collection box location, hours, and pick-up time information is available at usps.whitepages.com/post_office.

Effective April 18, the new retail hours at the following Post Office will be:

An independent federal agency, the U.S. Postal Service is the only delivery service that reaches every address in the nation, 149 million residences, businesses and Post Office Boxes, six days a week. It has 34,000 retail locations and relies on the sale of postage, products and services, not tax dollars, to pay for operating expenses.
