Postal Service Unveils “Civil Rights Pioneers” Stamp in Brooklyn

Background:
The Brooklyn Post Office with Medgar Evers College will celebrate the 100th Anniversary of the NAACP by unveiling the Civil Rights Pioneers stamp. The event will take place at Medgar Evers College located at 1650 Bedford Avenue, Brooklyn, New York on Wednesday, March 25, 2009 at 11:00 am.

Postal Officials, community leaders, and elected officials will be on hand including Hazel Dukes, president of the New York NAACP, and daughter of Medgar Evers - Reena Evers-Everette just to name a few.

The Civil Rights Pioneers stamp honors twelve civil rights leaders for their courage, commitment and struggle for equality, in the face of tremendous adversity. Their efforts will be forever immortalized on this special historic stamp.

All are welcome and stamps will be sold.
