Nevada Postal Customers Receive Best Delivery Service in Nation
Nevada-Sierra Postal District Continues Top Performance
LAS VEGAS, NV — For the second straight quarter, Postal Service customers in the Nevada-Sierra District, which covers the state of Nevada and the Lake Tahoe Region of California, received some of the best overnight mail delivery service in the nation for the fourth quarter of fiscal year 2007. With 97 percent on-time delivery of First-Class Mail, Nevada-Sierra tied a number of other postal districts for the nation’s highest delivery performance.
“Our district is continuing its breakthrough performance,” said Nevada-Sierra District Manager Shaun Mossman. “Leading the nation in service is quite a feat for a district that is also a leader in growth.”
Mossman credited the achievement to the Nevada-Sierra District’s postal employees’ dedication and commitment, coupled with efficient mail processing and delivery operations.
“This is the level of service our customers want and deserve, and we are proud to provide it,” said Mossman.
The Postal Service’s Nevada-Sierra District employs more than 5,000 people, working in nearly 200 postal facilities, who process and deliver an average 6 million pieces of mail each day to more than 1.2 million addresses.
National on-time performance scores for the delivery of First-Class Mail were at all-time highs for all three of the categories the Postal Service tracks. National overnight performance was 96 percent on-time in the final quarter —a first for the last quarter and for two consecutive quarters. National two-day and three-day performance also hit new record highs of 94 percent and 93 percent respectively.
First-Class Mail performance, presented last week during the Postal Service Board of Governors meeting, is measured independently by IBM Global Business Services. The process measures First-Class Mail from the time it is deposited into a collection box or lobby mail chute until it is delivered to a home or business.
