First day stamp event planned for Las Vegas on June 22
Don't forget to duck!

Las Vegas, NV - Everything will be ducky on June 22 at the Bass Pro Shop when the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Bass Pro Shops, and the United States Postal Service holds a first day of sale event for the 2007-2008 Federal Duck Stamp and the 2007 Junior Duck Stamp.

A special postmark will be available from the United States Postal Service during this special event at 8200 Dean Martin (inside the Silverton Hotel & Casino) from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. So get your ducks in a row and come on down.

Federal Duck Stamps are a vital tool for wetland conservation. Ninety-eight cents out of ever dollar generated by the sales of Federal Duck Stamps goes directly to purchase or lease wetland habitat for protection in the National Wildlife Refuge System. Originally created in 1934 as the federal licenses required for hunting migratory waterfowl, Federal Duck Stamps have a much larger purpose today.

"Besides serving as a hunting license and conservation tool, a current year's Federal Duck Stamp also serves as an entrance pass to National Wildlife Refuges that normally charge admission," said Postmaster Mark Martinez.

The Federal Duck Stamps are not valid for postage and cost $15 each.

In 1989, the first Junior Duck Stamps were produced. Junior Duck Stamps are now the capstone of the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service's Junior Duck Stamp environmental education program, teaching students across the nation "conservation through the arts." Revenue generated by the sale of Junior Duck Stamps funds environmental education programs in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, and two territories (American Samoa and the Virgin Islands).
