Four Vegas Valley Post Offices no longer under consideration for closure
Only one station remains under study
The U.S. Postal Service has decided not to proceed with the current consolidation of four stations and branches. The four no longer under consideration are Huntridge Station, Garside Station, King Station, and Desert Inn Retail.
Strip Station remains under review and results will be released as soon as the study is complete.
The Postal Service reviewed the data collected on the possible consolidations and made a determination not to continue with the process at this time. Some of the considered factors were customer access to postal services, transportation, service standards, customer feedback, and overall cost savings.
While the stations are no longer currently under the current study, the decision doesn’t preclude future studies from taking place.
The Postal Service continues to face severe financial problems. Mail volume is expected to decrease by as much as 28 billion pieces this fiscal year with a revenue loss of as much as $7 billion. Internal cost-cutting measures will continue.
