Community Invited To Ceremony

New Reno Postmaster to be installed Thu, Apr. 2

RENO , NV – The public is invited to the official installation and swearing-in ceremony for Reno Postmaster Renee Brown on Thurs, Apr. 2, 2009. The ceremony will be held at 1:30 P.M. in the entry way of the Reno Main Post Office, located at 2000 Vassar St. Reno, NV.

She is Reno’s 21st Postmaster.

Brown will be officially sworn in as Postmaster by Senior Manager of Postal Operations for Nevada, Craig Colton. Also attending will be representatives from the offices of Senator Ensign, Senator Reid, and Congressman Heller.

Light refreshments will be served

Reno employs more than 500 people who work at six stations and branches.  Each week, the Reno operations process and deliver an average of 2 million pieces of mail to more than 525,000 businesses and homes.

Brown has been a successful postal manager and is well known in the Washoe Valley and Truckee Meadows. She has served in a variety of managerial roles at all the Reno offices, the Carson City Post Office, and most recently as the Sparks Postmaster.

She began her career in the Postal Service in 1985 as a letter sorting machine operator at the Reno Processing and Distribution Center.

Brown has received a number of postal awards and honors for outstanding leadership and service.  “I’ve had the privilege to manage thousands of employees throughout my postal career,” she said. “But I’ve never forgotten my roots as a craft employee and am proud to work with the hard working and dedicated employees faithfully completing their rounds every day, embracing change and growing into the future.”

Brown and her husband Lannx, who is a letter carrier, have two adult children. They have been in the Reno area for 30 years, and their youngest daughter is attending the University of Nevada-Reno.
