Postal Service urges mailing ballots by Friday, Oct. 31

The U.S. Postal Service encourages voters planning to mail in their ballots to do so by today, Oct. 31, and with the proper postage.

The Postal Service also recommends that ballots not mailed by Saturday should be dropped off at a county election office.

Ballots can vary in size. Voters can contact their county election office for the proper amount of postage or take it to a local post office.

The U.S. Postal Service is working closely with county election officials to ensure ballots move through the mail system efficiently and are treated with high priority.

An independent federal agency, the U.S. Postal Service is the only delivery service that visits every address in the nation — 146 million homes and businesses. It has 37,000 retail locations and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to pay for operating expenses, not tax dollars. The Postal Service has annual revenues of $75 billion and delivers nearly half the world’s mail.
