ALBUQUERQUE POST OFFICES EXTENDS RETAIL & COLLECTION HOURS FOR CUSTOMERS ON "TAX DAY", APRIL 17, 2007
ALBUQUERQUE - According to the Internal Revenue Service, taxpayers across the nation will have until Tuesday, April 17, 2007, to file their 2006 federal tax returns. As a convenience to Albuquerque postal customers, both the Main Post Office (located at 1135 Broadway Blvd., NE) and the Rio Rancho Station (located at 900 Pinetree Rd. SE,) will extend their retail hours that day, operating from 8:00 AM until 12:00 Midnight. In addition, the USPS Air Mail Facility (located at 2100 George Road, SE ) and all Post Office Express (POE's) offices will remain open until 7:00 PM. The POE's are located at:
- 13201 Lomas Blvd NE
- 5850 Eubank NE
- 111 Coors Blvd NW
- 4016 Louisiana Blvd NE
As a supplement to regular mail collection schedules, a "courtesy" collection will be made providing a "final" collection of mail deposited into those boxes at 12:00 Midnight mail. "To ensure postmarking by the IRS's midnight deadline, we urge taxpayers in Albuquerque to mail early, in advance of the IRS deadline. But for those last minute filers, we'll make sure your return is processed promptly, as long as you deposit your return in the blue collection boxes located outside of the Main Office or the blue collection boxes located outside our stations before midnight", said Postmaster Matthew Lopez. This final courtesy collection will be provided for the following offices:
