Postal Services available 24 hours to Bridgewater Residents

Bridgewater, NJ—Bridgewater’s Postmaster Maryann Mancuso knows her customers lead busy lives, and so she is pleased to offer 24-hour/7-day–a-week access to the Automated Postal Center in the lobby of the Post Office at 495 Bridge Street. Automated Postal Centers (APCs) are the Postal Service’s version of the banking industry's ATMs. APCs are self-service kiosks that accept credit or debit cards and perform the majority of postal transactions.

APCs provide easy access to postal products and services. The APC allows customers to weigh their package, pay for postage via credit or debit card, and mail it without the need to go to the Post Office service window.

Using credit or debit cards, customers can use an APC to:

  • Purchase self-adhesive stamps.
  • Weigh, calculate and purchase postage in any amount for items weighing up to 70 lbs.
  • Send items via Express Mail, Priority Mail, First-Class Mail and Parcel Post Services.
  • Look up ZIP Codes and obtain mailing information.
  • Obtain Express Mail, Certified Mail, and Return Receipts.
  • Purchase Delivery Confirmation Service.
  • Purchase Insurance ($200 maximum).
  • Obtain a receipt.
  • APCs are located next to a convenient parcel slot that accepts packages up to 12" H x 14"D x 20"W.

Mancuso said “24-hour access to the Automated Postal Center makes conducting postal business convenient for firms as well as the average busy resident.”

A total of 21 Post Offices in the Central New Jersey area have 24 hour access to Automated Postal Centers. They are Toms River, East Brunswick, Englishtown, Kendall Park, Middletown, Trenton, Brick, Howell, Edison, Hillsborough, Old Bridge, Lakehurst, Kilmer Lobby, Jackson, Mercerville, Princeton Junction, Plainsboro, Pennington, Somerset, Bayville and our newest location at Bridgewater.

An independent federal agency, the U.S. Postal Service is the only delivery service that visits every address in the nation — 146 million homes and businesses. It has 37,000 retail locations and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to pay for operating expenses, not tax dollars. The Postal Service has annual revenues of $75 billion and delivers nearly half the world’s mail.
