USPS’s Trenton Processing & Distribution Center Expansion Project to Accommodate “State-of-the-Art” Sorting Equipment

The United States Postal Service is working to improve mail delivery while becoming more efficient. For that reason, the Trenton Processing & Distribution Center at 680 US Hwy 130 has just broken ground on a year long expansion project in order to install new automated mail sorting equipment.  For a period of approximately four weeks, postal patrons will need to use the Klockner Rd entrance rather than entering from US Hwy 130, while a portion of the parking will be blocked.

The new sorting equipment known as a Flat Sequencing System (FSS) will help reduce the amount of time needed for letter carriers to prepare the mail for delivery on their routes, meaning adjustments are being made that will allow each carrier to make more deliveries each day. While many delivery customers will notice no difference to the time their mail is typically delivered, some may notice that their mail is being delivered either earlier or later in the day as a result of the changes.

“While making these changes, as with everything we do, our focus is on customer service, and apologize in advance for any inconvenience this may cause our patrons” said Trenton Postmaster, Glenn Mahoney “Our employees are committed to continue providing outstanding mail service to all our residential and business customers.”

Customers with questions or concerns about their mail delivery service may contact the Postal Service’s toll-free customer service line at 1-800-ASK-USPS (1-800-275-8777).

An independent federal agency, the U.S. Postal Service is the only delivery service that visits every address in the nation — 146 million homes and businesses. It has 37,000 retail locations and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to pay for operating expenses, not tax dollars. The Postal Service has annual revenues of $75 billion and delivers nearly half the world’s mail.
