Today the Jersey City Post Office will be named after former New Jersey State Congressman,(1979-1993) and Senator,(1965-1972) Frank J. Guarini

Background:
The Scholar: Born in Jersey City and graduated from Lincoln High School, Guarini’s vast scholastic achievements include a Bachelor of Arts degree, Dartmouth College, Juris Doctor and Master of Law degrees, New York University School of Law and advanced studies at The Hague Academy of International Law, Netherlands.

The War Hero: Guarini saw active combat as a Lieutenant, USNR, in the Pacific Theater aboard the USS Mount McKinley, Flagship for the Pacific Amphibious Fleet. He was awarded the Naval Commendation Medal and three Battle Stars.

The Statesman: Elected to the U.S. Congress for seven terms, while serving on the Ways and Means Committee. Also a member of the Budget Committee, where he chaired the task force on urgent fiscal matters. Elected to the New Jersey State Senate for two terms serving on the Appropriations, Environmental and Transportation Committees.
