U.S. Postal Service Recognizes Haband Co Inc. At 2008 National Postal Forum

Local Family Business is Recognized by US Postal Service
Company Learns Accurate Mailing List is Money in the Bank

OAKLAND, NJ — The U.S. Postal Service today recognized Haband Company Incorporated a family owned retail business with its Corporate Business Achievement Award. At each National Postal Forum, a select group of Postal customers is acknowledged and recognized for their contributions to the continued success of the mailing industry.

The Corporate Business Achievement Award, one of three “best in class” awards is presented annually at the Forum. Haband was recognized for its innovative use of postal products to strengthen and grow its business.

Since 1925 Haband has served it’s over 5 million customers through Direct Mail. One of the largest mail order companies in the US the company offers a full line of men’s and women’s apparel and accessories. Looking for more effective ways to use the mail to reach their existing customers and to prospect for new ones, they sought to maximize the effectiveness of their direct mail campaigns. They wanted to gain the highest rate of deliverability possible thereby resulting in the highest ROI for their mailings. In order to do so, they needed to reduce Undeliverable As Addressed (UAA) mail and enhance the accuracy of their mailing lists.

Haband was offered the opportunity to test the accuracy of their mailing list when the United States Postal Service introduced them to our Address Quality Analysis process. The mailing list was run through USPS software that included CASS ZIP + 4, AEC, and NCOA. Test results determined that their sample list was 96.78% accurate. Haband also presorts their mailings to the finest degree possible and by doing so enjoys great cost savings. By working with the USPS, utilizing address services and by presenting their mailings at the highest level of presort, they knew that their direct mail campaigns were being prepared in the most cost effective and efficient manner possible.

“I congratulate Haband for having recognized the vital importance of innovation, teamwork, communications and customer satisfaction using the mail,” said Susan Plonkey, vice president, customer service.

The National Postal Forum is the mailing industry’s premier trade show and event. More than 7,000 industry professionals attend the four-day conference that features 140 workshops and special sessions, four symposiums and 13 professional certificate programs.
