Officials to Demonstrate USPS.COM - “Post Office at Your Fingertips”

Jersey City NJ — From 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., postal online experts will be in the lobby of the Jersey City Park Post Office at 69 Montgomery Street on Tuesday, March 18 to show consumers how to save some gas, time, and money by using the Postal Service’s USPS.COM web site. With over one million customer visits per day and three dozen services available on the web site, USPS.COM has been described as the “Post Office at Your Fingertips.”

Jersey City Postmaster Jeff Gannon points out that the Postal Service’s website offers nearly three dozen services and products to help small business owners and consumers. From the convenience of a home or office computer, customers can:

  • Buy stamps
  • Print mailing labels with or without postage
  • Request free package pickup
  • Track packages and confirm deliveries
  • Send shipments around the world
  • Design customized postage
  • Order free, environmentally friendly packaging

“Our customers have discovered that it’s easy to do all their shopping and mailing from the convenience of their computer,” Gannon said. “Almost anything you can do at a Post Office, you can do online at our USPS.COM web site.”

An independent federal agency, the U.S. Postal Service is the only delivery service that visits every address in the nation — 146 million homes and businesses. It has 37,000 retail locations and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to pay for operating expenses, not tax dollars. The Postal Service has annual revenues of $75 billion and delivers nearly half the world’s mail.
