Trenton Post Office To Host Passport Fair

Helping Travelers Vacation Worry-Free

Trenton, NJ –. Trenton area vacationers who plan land and sea travel between the United States and Canada, Mexico, Bermuda or the Caribbean will need either a passport book or the new passport card for re-entry into the United States. In order too help make your travel plans go smoothly, Trenton postal officials will hold a special Passport Fair on Saturday, February 28, 2009 from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., at the Main Post Office located at 680 US Highway 130.

“At the Trenton Passport Fair you will find an atmosphere where the application process is quick and easy. No appointment is necessary because extra staffing will be on hand specifically devoted to passport acceptance.” said Trenton Postmaster, Glenn Mahoney.

Postmaster Mahoney also offers these helpful tips when applying for a Passport:

  • Bring proper proof of American citizenship or naturalization. This must be either: a state-issued certified birth certificate; a previous official passport; or a naturalization certificate, if you are foreign-born. (Please note: a hospital-issued birth certificate is not acceptable.)
  • Bring in one officially-acceptable state or government photo ID. This can be either a driver's license, a military photo ID, or a state-issued photo ID. Workplace IDs and regular photos are generally not acceptable.
  • The passport application requires two recent identical photographs. The photos must meet specific passport requirements which are explained at http://travel.state.gov/passport. (Photos can be taken at the Passport Fair for an additional fee)
  • To save time, download passport application documents at www.usps.com/passport and fill out beforehand. However, don't sign the application form, as the passport acceptance clerk must witness the signing.
  • For children under age 16, both parents' consent and proof of parental relationship are required. See Special Requirements for children under age 16 at http://travel.state.gov/passport/get/minors/minors_834.html for details.

An independent federal agency, the U.S. Postal Service is the only delivery service that visits every address in the nation — 146 million homes and businesses. It has 37,000 retail locations and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to pay for operating expenses, not tax dollars. The Postal Service has annual revenues of $75 billion and delivers nearly half the world’s mail.
