Mailing Options During the Holiday Rush; USPS.com Demonstrations at Stations & Branches Dec. 2

Access is Easy When Time is Short

OMAHA, Neb. — It is said that time waits for no man, and no one knows that more than those battling the crowds to do holiday shopping this season.

“Shoppers have many options to get their holiday gifts mailed on time,” says Omaha Postmaster, EvaJon Sperling. “To help our customers in learning more about our services, we will have members of the Postal Business Development Team in several of our postal lobbies on Dec 2, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., to show how easy it is to mail from your home or office and access information about our products by using usps.com.”  These locations are:

Boystown Station at 139 S 144 St
Main Office Window at 1124 Pacific St
Northwest Station at 6012 N 102 St
West Omaha Station at 8451 W Center Rd.

“We know harried shoppers don’t always have time to drop off their cards and packages or buy stamps at the Post Office,” Sperling says. “That’s why it helps to know other places and ways everyone can access our mailing services when they run short on time.”  Post Office locations and hours also can be found on usps.com.

Contract Postal Units
There are a number of retail locations that sell stamps and offer other postal services:

ATMs
Your nearest access point for postage stamps may be one of the thousands of bank automated teller machines (ATMs) nationwide that stand ready to serve as your personal stamp machine.

At usps.com, click on Locate a Post Office and under Options select Alternate Locations to Buy Stamps. The website will list the nearest address and show a map and directions on how to get there.

Click-N-Ship
“You can do all of your holiday mailing online at usps.com without leaving your home,” says Sperling. “We save you money as well as gas. You can print postage and mailing labels from your computer using Click-N-Ship. Price reductions are available on Priority Mail and Express Mail when you ship online. The more you ship, the more you save, and free Delivery Confirmation is included. Plus, we offer free carrier pickup, so you can save time and money.”

Automated Postal Centers (APCs)
APCs are self-service kiosks that can provide 80 percent of the transactions available at the window counter. APCs do transactions in English or Spanish and accept major credit and debit cards.

APCs dispense First-Class Mail, Priority Mail, Parcel Post, and Express Mail postage in any denomination; provide mailing information, including ZIP Code lookup; weigh and price envelopes and parcels up to 70 pounds; prepare Express Mail forms and Certified Mail return receipts; and offer Delivery Confirmation service.

An independent federal agency, the U.S. Postal Service is the only delivery service that visits every address in the nation — 146 million homes and businesses. It has 37,000 retail locations and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to pay for operating expenses, not tax dollars. The Postal Service has annual revenues of $75 billion and delivers nearly half the world’s mail.
