Postal Service Seeks Public Input on Potential
Consolidation of Three Stations in Omaha

Community Meetings Scheduled for Sept. 4 - 8

OMAHA, Neb.—The current economy and technological advances are combining to change the way people use and access services and products offered by the United States Postal Service, a self-supporting independent federal agency. Ongoing mail volume and revenue losses demand that the USPS review all postal operations to find opportunities to provide service more efficiently.

The Postal Service is seeking public input for the possible consolidation of Station A at 2221 N. 24th St., Station B at 3021 Leavenworth St., and Station C at 1618 Vinton St., in Omaha. All three locations are in close proximity to other retail and delivery units, and are open less than eight hours, with two of the locations, Station A and C, open less than three hours a day.

“The public’s feedback on these potential consolidations will be considered before a final decision is made,” Omaha Customer Relations Coordinator Roger Humphries explained.

The community meetings are scheduled as follows:

Station A – Sept. 8, from 8:45 a.m. to 11 a.m., at Station A (lobby), 2221 N. 24th St., Omaha

Station B – Sept. 4, from 3:45 p.m. to 5 p.m., at Jackson Elementary (library), 620 S. 31st St., Omaha.

Station C – Sept. 4, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., at Station C (lobby), 1618 Vinton St., Omaha.

If the stations were to be consolidated, it would not occur until late this year at the earliest.

Humphries noted that pre-paid shipping labels can be conveniently purchased and printed out online 24 hours a day at usps.com.” Stamps are also available for purchase online and at various outlets around the city, including Contract Postal Units (CPUs) and Automated Postal Centers (APCs) at select Post Office locations. Customers can also search for the nearest CPU or APC on the usps.com website
