Danny White named new Ferguson Postmaster

FERGUSON, NC — Danny L. White was recently appointed new Postmaster of Ferguson. White, a Hickory native and postal employee for 14 years, replaces Shannon Raby, who was appointed Postmaster, Newland, NC last year.

“Good customer service is very important to me and this includes educating the customers in our latest technology and options that are available to them,” says White. “I want them to have all the information, products and services at their disposal, even when it’s inconvenient or impossible to get to the Post Office.”

White began his postal career as a City Letter Carrier in Valdese Post Office in 1994, and has also served as Postmaster of Thurmond. Now a resident of Morganton, he is a member of the Conflict Resolution for Three County program, and is married with three grown children and three grandchildren.

At the Ferguson Post Office, located at 12650 Highway 268 West, White is responsible for four employees and two routes, delivering an average of 12,500 pieces of mail per week to 675 delivery points. In his retail operation, he is responsible for 130 Post Office Boxes and is open weekdays 8 am – 12:30 pm and 1:45 - 4 pm, and on Saturdays from 8 – 10:30 a.m.

“I think it’s impressive that a customer can go into a small town Post Office and have access to the same services and products that the large Post Offices have,” said White. “I’m eager to show my new customers that I am dedicated to providing them with courteous and knowledgeable customer service.”

An independent federal agency, the U.S. Postal Service is the only delivery service that visits every address in the nation — 146 million homes and businesses. It has 37,000 retail locations and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to pay for operating expenses, not tax dollars. The Postal Service has annual revenues of $75 billion and delivers nearly half the world’s mail.
