Five million reasons to honor postal carriers

Winston-Salem letter carriers earn top recognition for 30 years of safety

WHAT:
The Winston-Salem Manor Post Office will honor five of its city letter carriers for driving at least one million miles each without a preventable motor vehicle accident. The National Safety Council’s (NSC) Million Mile Club recognizes postal drivers who have driven this distance; carriers average 30 miles driven daily, which in 30 years total one million miles driven.

WHO:
Winston Salem Letter Carriers Bruce Browning, Chester Clark, Jimmy Harrison, Stanley Tedder and Carry Trahan will be joined by Greensboro Acting District Manager/Lead Executive Russell Gardner, Postmaster David Barcio, and others for this coveted achievement.

WHERE:
Manor Station Post Office
3331 Healy Drive
Winston-Salem, NC

WHEN:
Tuesday, February 26, 2008 @ 9 am

TAKE NOTE:
According to the NSC, achieving Million Mile Club status is to professional driving as reaching the summit of Mt. Everest is to the sport of climbing. Only eleven carriers in 2007 received this status out of 3900 in the district.

An independent federal agency, the U.S. Postal Service is the only delivery service that visits every address in the nation — 146 million homes and businesses. It has 37,000 retail locations and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to pay for operating expenses, not tax dollars. The Postal Service has annual revenues of $75 billion and delivers nearly half the world’s mail.
