New Contract Postal Unit Opens In Concord

Grand Opening Ceremony Will Be Held On Tuesday, January 29

CHARLOTTE, NC — A new Contract Postal Unit (CPU) in Concord will provide Postal Service products and services to the community. A Grand Opening ceremony will be held on Tuesday, January 29 at 1:00 p.m.

The new contract postal outlet is located in the S&M Mart at 5501 Poplar Tent Road in Concord, near the corner of Poplar Tent Road and George Liles Parkway.

Customers can purchase stamps, mail letters and packages, and purchase nearly all mailing services — including both domestic and international — at the same prices available at Post Offices. The only services not available at the CPU are money orders, Post Office Box rentals and Global Express Guaranteed services.

Hours of operation at the new retail postal location are Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

The community is invited to attend the Grand Opening ceremony. Light refreshments will be served.

An independent federal agency, the U.S. Postal Service is the only delivery service that visits every address in the nation, 146 million homes and businesses, six days a week. It has 37,000 retail locations and relies on the sale of postage, products, and services to pay for operating expenses, not tax dollars. The Postal Service has annual revenues of $75 billion and delivers nearly half the world’s mail.
