Postal Service Will Host Passport Fair

Event To Help Customers Prepare For New Passport Regulations

CHARLOTTE, NC —The Postal Service will hold a Passport Fair to help customers prepare for new federal regulations requiring passports for all international travelers. The one day event is offered as a customer convenience, with the Postal Service’s experienced Passport Services employees on hand to help customers through the process.

The Passport Fair will be held on Saturday, January 26, at the Carmel Postal Station, 6300 Carmel Road in Charlotte. The hours are 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.

Most passports for adults 16 years of age and older will cost $97, including acceptance fees, while passports for children 15 years of age and younger will cost $82. Photos are required and are available to be taken at the Post Office for an additional fee of $15.

To help the passport application process run smoothly, the Postal Service recommends the following:

  • Bring proper proof of American citizenship. This must be either: a certified birth certificate issued by the city, county or state; a previous U.S. passport; a certificate of citizenship; or a naturalization certificate. (Please note: a hospital-issued birth certificate alone is not acceptable.)
  • Bring in proof of identity. This must be either: a previous U.S. passport; a naturalization certificate; a certificate of citizenship; a current valid driver's license, government ID or military photo ID.
  • The passport application requires two identical color photographs of the applicant, which are available at the Post Office for $15.
  • Complete the Passport Application Form DSP-11. It can be downloaded at www.usps.com/passport before hand and will also be available at the Passport Fair.
