Million Milers honored in Rocky Mount Thursday

WHAT: The U.S. Postal Service will honor two of its own letter carriers as they are inducted into the National Safety Council’s Million Mile Club, which recognizes drivers who have gone at least 30 years without a preventable motor vehicle accident.

WHO: Postmaster Julius Jones will preside over a ceremony honoring letter carriers Tim Balkcum and Wayne Calhoun, both Rocky Mount residents.

WHERE: Rocky Mount Carrier Annex
2451 Postal Drive
Rocky Mount, NC

WHEN: Thursday, October 15, 2009 @ 9:30 am

BACKGROUND: The Million Mile Club is the highest honor given to a professional driver in the workplace by the National Safety Council, and according to the NSC, the status is to professional driving as reaching the peak of Mt. Everest is to the sport of climbing. Balkcum and Calhoun, both local residents, earn this unique recognition to highlight their 30 years of government service.
