Stokes Post Office honors Million Miler Wednesday

STOKES—The U.S. Postal Service and Stokes Post Office will honor one of its own, rural letter carrier James Wilcox, for his recent induction into the National Safety Council’s coveted Million Mile Club, which recognizes drivers who have gone at least 30 years without a preventable motor vehicle accident. The short recognition ceremony will take place Wednesday, September 2, at Stokes Post Office, 2817 NC Highway 903 North, at 10 am.

The Million Mile Club is the highest honor given to a professional driver in the workplace by the National Safety Council, and according to the NSC, the status is to professional driving as reaching the peak of Mt. Everest is to the sport of climbing. Wilcox, a Greenville resident, earns this unique recognition to highlight his 30 years of government service

Stokes Acting Postmaster Harold Gordon and Manager, Post Office Operations Linda Strong will be on hand to recognize Wilcox’s achievements in front of his peers Wednesday. Beach is one of only 15 district carriers to receive this honor so far this year.
