Show ‘Thanks for the Memory’
Muster at Jack Rabbit’s Ballfield in Support of Troops
and Memory of Bob Hope

ENFIELD — The U.S. Postal Service Saturday honors one of the most beloved performers of the 20th century with the release of the Bob Hope stamp. In tribute to Hope’s legacy of more than five decades entertaining American men and women in uniform, the Postal Service encourages customers to show thanks to military service members stationed around the world.
To help families and friends of military overseas, the Postal Service offers a discount on its largest Priority Mail Flat Rate Box. The domestic mail price for the Priority Mail Large Flat Rate Box is $13.95, but for packages to U.S. military addresses overseas, the price is reduced to only $11.95.
“Bob Hope dedicated his life to bringing laughter and cheer to the brave men and women who serve our country overseas,” said Samantha Evans-Mills, Acting Postmaster, Tillery. “The Postal Service is proud to continue this tradition by offering a discount on parcels going to U.S. military addresses in the hope that these care packages will bring them laughter, cheer and our heartfelt thanks.”
To show support for the troops, Postmasters from Tillery, Gaston, Littleton and Hollister will represent the U.S. Postal Service at Jack Rabbit’s Ballfield, 3620 Ita Road, Enfield on Saturday, June 6 beginning at 10 am to accept donations of supplies, toiletries and money to send to troops overseas.
Customers also can support the troops and send reminders of home to military members overseas using the Postal Service’s free Military Care Kits. The kits are designed specifically for military families sending packages overseas. Each kit includes two Priority Mail boxes, six Priority Mail Flat Rate Boxes, eight Priority Mail labels, one roll of Priority Mail tape and eight customs forms with envelopes. The mailing kits can be ordered by calling 800-610-8734.
“Care packages from home are a big morale boost for military service members stationed around the world,” said Evans-Mills. “With Priority Mail Flat Rate Boxes, you can lift spirits without weighing yourself down. If it fits, it ships for one low price.”
Flat-rate boxes are free at any Post Office, or can be ordered free online at www.usps.com. The Bob Hope stamps are available for sale at most Post Offices nationwide, or can be ordered online at www.usps.com.
