Louisburg letter carrier to be honored Friday
LOUISBURG — The U.S. Postal Service and Louisburg Post Office will honor one of its own, rural letter carrier Eddie Watson, for his recent induction into the National Safety Council’s coveted Million Mile Club, which recognizes drivers who have gone at least 30 years without a preventable motor vehicle accident. The short recognition ceremony will take place Friday, May 29, at the Louisburg Post Office, 125 N. Main Street, at 9 am.
The Million Mile Club is the highest honor given to a professional driver in the workplace by the National Safety Council, and according to the NSC, the status is to professional driving as reaching the peak of Mt. Everest is to the sport of climbing. Watson, a Louisburg resident, earns this unique recognition to highlight his 30+ years of government service.
Louisburg Postmaster Margaret Pernell will be on hand to recognize Watson’s achievements in front of his peers Wednesday. Watson is one of only 13 district carriers to receive this honor this year.
