Raleigh letter carrier honored at 1 million miles

RALEIGH, NC – The U.S. Postal Service and Raleigh Post Office will honor one of its own, letter carrier Robert M. Gann, for his recent induction into the National Safety Council’s coveted Million Mile Club, which recognizes drivers who have gone at least 30 years without a preventable motor vehicle accident. The short recognition ceremony will take place Tuesday, April 21, at the North Ridge Station Post Office, 7800 Falls of Neuse Road, Raleigh, at 7:30 am.

The Million Mile Club is the highest honor given to a professional driver in the workplace by the National Safety Council, and according to the NSC, the status is to professional driving as reaching the peak of Mt. Everest is to the sport of climbing. Gann, a Wake Forest resident, earns this unique recognition to highlight his 30 years of government service

Raleigh Postmaster Howard Sample will be on hand to recognize Gann’s achievements, the highlight of an event where a number of employees will be recognized for safety and attendance performance. Gann is one of only 12 district carriers to receive this unique honor so far this year.
