Kansas City Post Offices Ready for Busiest Mailing Day

WHAT:   Nationwide, the Postal Service expects to deliver 19 billion letters, packages and cards between Thanksgiving and Christmas. the busiest mailing day is expected to be Monday, Dec. 15, when 960 million cards and letters will be processed, nearly double the average daily volume. The busiest delivery day will be Wednesday, Dec. 17.

At the Kansas City Processing & Distribution Center (P&DC), employees expect to sort more than 2.1 million mail pieces on Monday evening, Dec. 15 – about three times the mail volume on a typical Monday.

WHO:   The employees of the Kansas City, MO P&DC and KC metro area letter carriers.

WHERE:   The Kansas City, MO P&DC is located at 1700 Cleveland Ave. (from east-bound I-70, take the 18th Street exit, then left two blocks to Cleveland).

WHEN:   Monday evening (after 7 p.m.), Dec. 15th will be the busiest mail processing (sorting) day of the year. Two days later, on Wednesday, Dec. 17th, letter carriers throughout the Kansas City metro area will deliver their heaviest workload of the year.
