100 Children to Help Post Office Kick-Off the Holiday Mailing Season

Santa Claus will make a special appearance

What:
Over 100 children from the Cote Brilliante Elementary School and
Hodgen Elementary School in St. Louis will help the Postal Service kick off the Holiday Mailing Season with a special stamp dedication of the new holiday Nutcracker Stamps. St. Louis Postmaster Robert Cavinder will read the “Night Before Christmas” then, the children will signal the start of the mailing season by dropping their Santa letters in a special Santa letter collection box.

The Postal Choir will sing a few well-known childrens’ holiday songs and everyone will participate in a holiday sing-along.

Background:
The Postal Service issues commemorative stamps with a contemporary and a traditional theme to help Americans celebrate the holidays. This year, holiday nutcrackers are featured on the stamp with the contemporary design. The painting titled “Virgin and Child with the Young John the Baptist” by Sandro Botticelli is featured on the stamp with the traditional design.
