Postal Service Honors Congressman William “Bill” Clay

North County Post Office dedicated as the William “Bill” Clay Post Office Building

St. Louis —The U.S. Postal Service dedicated the North County Branch of the St. Louis Post Office today as the William “Bill” Clay Post Office building honoring the Congressman’s years of representing the people of Missouri in the U.S House of Representatives.

Lead postal executive and District Manager of the Gateway District Danita Aquiningoc described the honor as a “fitting tribute” to a man who dedicated his life to public service. “During his 32 years representing Missouri’s First Congressional District, Bill Clay became an advocate for labor issues, social justice, and environmentalism,” she said. “From 1991 until 1995, he chaired the House Committee on the Post Office and Civil Service.  It is a fitting tribute to honor Bill Clay by dedicating the North County post office building in his name.”

Sponsors of the legislation, Senator Claire McCaskill in the U.S. Senate and Congressman Russ Carnahan in the U.S. House of Representatives along with Congressman Lacy Clay, his sister Vicki Clay Jackson, St. Louis Postmaster Robert A. Cavinder, St. Louis County Executive Charlie Dooley, and Congressman Bill Clay’s former district assistant Pearlie Evans paid tribute to the man who spent 32-years representing Missouri’s First Congressional District.

“Congressman Clay was an advocate for education, labor issues, social justice, and environmentalism,” said Aquiningoc. “The people he represented are the benefactors of his tenure in the House of Representatives.”

The North County Branch of the St. Louis Post Office is located at 11001 Dunklin Dr. in St. Louis.
