St. Louis Post Office Hours on Tax Day

Half A Million Returns Expected to be Mailed in St Louis

St. Louis — You're not alone if you haven't mailed your tax return. Typically, 20 percent of all Americans wait until the last week to file their returns and St. Louis is no exception. Almost half a million returns are expected to be mailed in St. Louis on April 15.

To make it easier for late filer, the St. Louis downtown Main Post Office at 1720 Market Street is open until 8 p.m. Mail will be collected at the Main Post Office until midnight with postal employees working curbside on Market Street to collect customers' tax returns.

The North County Post Office at 11001 Dunklin will close at 11 p.m. and the Postal Stores at the Galleria, South County, and Crestwood Malls close at 7 p.m. All other offices will operate on normal weekday schedules. Customers are encouraged to check with their local post office for tax day hours.

An independent federal agency, the U.S. Postal Service is the only delivery service that visits every address in the nation, 146 million homes and businesses, six days a week. It has 37,000 retail locations and relies on the sale of postage, products, and services to pay for operating expenses, not tax dollars. The Postal Service has annual revenues of $75 billion and delivers nearly half the world’s mail.
