Centropolis, Civic Center and Northeast Postal Stations Will Not Be Consolidated
KANSAS CITY, Mo.—The Kansas City, Missouri Post Office announced today that the review of the Centropolis, Civic Center and Northeast stations for possible consolidation with other local Post Offices will not be pursued at this time.
“We looked at the data gathered during the initial study and determined that any consolidations are not feasible at this time,” said acting Postmaster John Morgan.
Local postal operations managers considered many things, including potential impact to customer access, employees, cost savings, and service standards, along with the availability of alternate retail services, facility space, and other operational items.
“Our commitment to customer service is paramount,” said Morgan. “We will continue to provide the dependable service our customers on which our customers rely. We also will keep a balance with our critical focus on reducing costs so that service is not diminished.”
The Postal Service, which is not tax-supported, announced several weeks ago that hundreds of Post Office stations and branches nationwide would be reviewed for possible consolidation in the wake of declining mail volume and revenue.
While the three Kansas City Post Office stations will remain open, Postal Service officials say it does not preclude future studies from taking place.
