Most Post Office Retail Counters To Close at noon on July 3rd

Noon set as day’s final mail collection

ST LOUIS — Most Post Office retail counters across central and northeastern Missouri and southern Illinois will close at noon on Friday, July 3, 2009 to allow retail employees to spend more time with their families. Noon will be last collection for mail deposited in blue collection boxes that day. All collection points that have a regularly scheduled collection time prior to 12:00 PM (noon) on Friday July 3rd will be collected as scheduled. Regular mail delivery for July 3 will be unaffected by the change. P.O. Box mail access will only be available until 12:00 PM (noon) in those Post Offices where retail counters and access to Post Office Boxes are co-located and are affected by early retail closing.

“As many businesses close early on July 3rd said District Manager Danita Aquiningoc. “the number of customers visiting our lobbies greatly diminishes. We view this as an opportunity to afford retail employees more time with their families by closing retail operations in most of our locations early on July 3rd."

The following Post Office retail counters in the Gateway District will be open on July 3rd until the time shown below. The time listed will be the last collection for mail deposited in blue collection boxes that day.

12:30 p.m. – Herman, MO

1 p.m. – Missouri: St. Charles, Harvester, Emden, St. Patrick, Santa Fe, Hazelwood, Bridgeton
lllnois: Granite City

1:15 p.m. – Plevena, MO

2 p.m. – Missouri: St. Clair, Coatsville, Barnhart
Illinois: Lancaster, Stoy, New Salem, Colusa

3 p.m. – Missouri: Galleria, South County and Crestwood Mall stores, Luray, Columbia, Chesterfield, Ballwin, Florissant,
Illinois: Collinsville, O’Fallon, Carbondale, Marion, Murphysboro, Edwardsville, Jerseyville, East St. Louis, Fairview Heights, Dutch Hollow, Alton.

3:30 p.m. – Pollock, MO

3:45 p.m. – Livonia, MO

4 p.m. – Missouri: Maryland Heights, O’Fallon

5 p.m. – St. Louis, MO Main Post Office on Market St.

Commercial customers are asked to check with their Bulk Mail Acceptance Unit for July 3rd hours of operation. To obtain the phone number of a specific Post Office, customers may call 1-800-ASK-USPS.

Post Office retail counters will be closed on Saturday, July 4, 2009 (Independence Day – a federal holiday) and there will be no mail delivery.

Post Offices retail counters will resume regularly scheduled hours on operation on Monday, July 6.
