St. Paul Post Office announces temporary changes in mail collection services during Republican National Convention

ST PAUL, MN — Beginning Wednesday, August 27, the Postal Service will begin removing blue collection boxes from the restricted area in downtown St. Paul surrounding the Republican National Convention. This is a normal security procedure for national conventions.

These boxes will be placed back into service beginning Friday, Sept. 5. During this time customers should make alternative arrangements to drop off mail at boxes outside the restricted area, at any Post Office or by giving it to a letter carrier.

An independent federal agency, the U.S. Postal Service is the only delivery service that visits every address in the nation — 146 million homes and businesses. It has 37,000 retail locations and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to pay for operating expenses, not tax dollars. The Postal Service has annual revenues of $75 billion and delivers nearly half the world’s mail.
