Picture Postmark Commemorates Flag Day Ceremony

Honorary Postmaster Named for 2008 Flag Day Station

BALTIMORE, MD —The annual Flag Day ceremony will be held at Baltimore’s Fort McHenry, the birthplace of America’s National Anthem, on Saturday, June 14, 2008. The Baltimore Post Office will commemorate Flag Day and the 29th Anniversary of the Annual National Pause for the Pledge of Allegiance with a special pictorial postmark.

To receive the free postmark, mail requests to Flag Day Station, Manager, Main Office Window Services, USPS, 900 E Fayette Street, Baltimore, MD 21233-9715. Enclose a self-addressed, stamped envelope for return. Mail order requests must be postmarked no later than July 14, 2008.

In tradition with the Flag Day ceremonies, an Honorary Postmaster will be named. Colonel Richard J. Knauer, Jr. will be sworn in as Postmaster of the 2008 Flag Day Station.
