Williamstown Post Office earns 5-Star Customer Service Gold award

John Bourdon receiving trophy

WILLIAMSTOWN POST OFFICE was one of six Post Offices in the Massachusetts Postal District to earn the U.S. Postal Service’s Gold 5-Star Customer Service award for exemplary customer service over a three-year period ending Sept. 30. District Manager John W. “Mike” Powers III, left, presented Postmaster John Bourdon with a trophy topped with a gold star for the office in recognition of the achievement. The Gallup Organization surveys USPS customers, asking them to rate local Post Offices on clerk efficiency, accuracy of delivery, consistency of delivery and wait-time-in-line. Williamstown Post Office achieved its target score in “excellent” ratings in 12 consecutive quarters to gain the accolade. Other Gold 5-Star winners were Billerica, Concord, East Longmeadow, Great Barrington and Wakefield Post Offices.

An independent federal agency, the U.S. Postal Service is the only delivery service that visits every address in the nation — 146 million homes and businesses. It has 37,000 retail locations and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to pay for operating expenses, not tax dollars. The Postal Service has annual revenues of $75 billion and delivers nearly half the world’s mail.
