Princeton Post Office plans ‘Passport Day’

PRINCETON—Are you planning to travel abroad?

Well, Princeton Post Office, 206 Worcester St., will make it easier for you by holding a special “Passport Day” on Saturday, Nov. 15, from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m.

Postmaster Teri Bonneville said the special hours should make it easier for parents with minor children applying for a passport because both parents must accompany children under 16 years of age. “These special ‘Passport Day’ hours should prove to be helpful to persons with children who need passports,” she said.

There are new regulations requiring a passport for all air travel to and from Canada, Mexico, Central and South America, the Caribbean, and Bermuda.

The Post Office also takes passport photos for $15, she said, making the procedure a one-stop process.

She recommended persons apply for their passports at least two months or earlier before their departure to avoid extra costs to expedite an application.

Other requirements in applying for a passport, he said, include: Evidence of citizenship, two passport photos, and current photo identification.

Passport fees can be paid by check or cash. Passports cost a total of $100 for persons 16 years of age and over; $85 for persons under age 16, and $75 for passports being renewed.

Also available will be the new wallet-size passport card, which provides a less expensive, smaller and more convenient alternative for those who travel frequently by land or by sea between the United States and Canada, Mexico, Bermuda and the Caribbean. These cost a total of $45 for adults and $35 for persons under 16 years of age.
