What:
Ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the grand opening of a new postal location at Quic Pic Convenience in North Andover, known as a contract postal unit (CPU).

Who:
Postal officials
Quic Pic Owner/Manager Steve Mancuso

When:
11 a.m., Thursday, April 2, 2009 – The public is invited.

Where:
Quic Pic Convenience, 533 Chickering Road (Route 125), North Andover

Background:
When stopping for that cup of coffee or newspaper, check one more item off your “To Do” list – “Mail Package.” The one-stop shopping experience now can be realized at the new mini Post Office in Quic Pic Convenience. Besides the normal items bought at a convenience store, the business, in partnership with the U.S. Postal Service, offers a full line of postal products and services including postage stamps, Express Mail®, Priority Mail®, packaging products and more. To add to the convenient location, the hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The advantage of CPUs is an added postal presence in the community. For retail businesses, the CPU often allows the owners to make use of underused space while providing an additional service that brings more customers into their location.

An independent federal agency, the U.S. Postal Service is the only delivery service that reaches every address in the nation, 149 million residences, businesses and Post Office Boxes, six days a week. It has 34,000 retail locations and relies on the sale of postage, products and services, not tax dollars, to pay for operating expenses. Named the Most Trusted Government Agency five consecutive years by the Ponemon Institute, the Postal Service has annual revenue of $75 billion and delivers nearly half the world’s mail.
