Lafitte and Barataria Post Offices Now Open for Business

New Orleans, LA — The Louisiana Postal Officials report that two more Post Offices in the Greater New Orleans Metro area are open to serve local residents.

700 ZIP Code Post Offices

Barataria and Lafitte Post Offices are now open for business.

“We are back in these communities to better serve residents, even though each Post Office is operating on generator power. We apologize for any inconveniences to our customers, but the Postal Service knows how important the mail is in times of emergencies. We want the mail at your Post Office when you return to Lafitte and Barataria,” stated Daisy Comeaux, Postal spokesperson.

“If residents in areas affected by flooding do not receive mail delivery, they can go to their local delivery Post Office and pick up mail,” Comeaux added.

Resumption of mail service and normal operations may be curtailed in the event of unsafe conditions.

An independent federal agency, the U.S. Postal Service is the only delivery service that visits every address in the nation, 146 million homes and businesses, six days a week. It has 37,000 retail locations and relies on the sale of postage, products, and services to pay for operating expenses, not tax dollars. The Postal Service has annual revenues of $75 billion and delivers nearly half the world’s mail.
