Hurricane Gustav Update: USPS Operations and Deliveries Resume
USPS resumes full operations in impacted areas of Louisiana and Texas
BATON ROUGE — The United States Postal Service (USPS) has resumed operations and deliveries throughout Louisiana in all areas that are accessible and safe for employees.
“On Tuesday, the morning after Hurricane Gustav made landfall, many of our Postal Service employees were at their worksite ready to begin serving our customers,” says Southwest Area Vice President Ellis Burgoyne. “We are committed to providing the full range of services that our customers in Louisiana and Texas deserve:”
Texas operations and deliveries are fully operational. Current status of operations in impacted areas, by state follows:
LOUISIANA
Plants and Post Offices in Northern-Central Louisiana and Baton Rouge and Lafayette areas (Zip Code Areas 705-714) are accepting mail and offering retail and delivery services.
ZIP Codes 705-714 have resumed normal operations based on accessibility, our employee safety, and local law enforcement restrictions.
ZIP Codes 700-701 (New Orleans) will resume normal delivery and retail operations on Thursday, September 4, 2008.
ZIP Codes 703-704 (Houma and Mandeville) will have partial retail and delivery services as of Wednesday, September 3, 2008 based on accessibility, our employee safety, and local law enforcement restrictions.
TEXAS
There are no service disruptions in the State of Texas.
